Media is an important issue in the learning process. Media is also a major link in bridging learners with centers and learning resources. Media is often the main backdrop in the conventional learning process. Where in the process of conventional learning, direct learning strategy centered on a teacher in front of students where the teacher is a source and also a center in learning.
But the development that we experience for now and possibly also in the future, is always faced with changes with a very fast rotation. The development of information and communication technology has led to changes in all areas of life. Especially in education sector (learning). The influence of this technology has been aimed at changes in the infrastructure (network) that gave birth to network-based learning. The advancement of hardware and software has also led to significant influences on content changes and mapping programs so that we often hear today with e-learning, online learning, long distance learning, teleclassroom, Computer Aided Instruction, Computer Mediated Instruction, Computer Base Training, CMS, LMS to web-based learning.
For some people is very confused with the above terms. Is the above as a model or strategy in learning? Which is the delivery system in the learning process? Which as a management tool in learning? And which is also as a medium in learning?
So many terms that exist, according to the topic times, then I focus on the discussion of multimedia-based learning media. But as a preliminary overview to understand the media then it needs a little flashback about the review of instructional media. The development of the media, according to Ashby (1971: 9) has raised two times out of four educational revolutions, as shown in the illustration below.
